Stuttgart, 5 June 2018 - The latest version of the Ferrari V8, which equips all the cars of the 8-cylinder engine in various forms, has been named the best engine in the world for the third consecutive year at the International Engine of the Year Awards 2018 .

On the 20th anniversary of the Award, Ferrari has received six awards, the highest number ever achieved in a year by a car manufacturer, bringing the total number of prizes won by Ferrari to 27, setting a record of victories among sports car manufacturers .

In addition to the main engine recognition of the year, the 3.9-liter V8 and 720 hp of the new Ferrari 488 Pista also excelled in the "3 to 4-liter" and "Performance Engine" categories and received the special nomination "Best of the Best ", by 68 international judges called to vote the best engine among all the winners of the last 20 years.

"In the 488 GTB, the 3.9-liter 8-cylinder engine gave an almost perfect example of a high-performance turbo engine, which raised the level to displace rival powertrains," said Dean Slavnich, co-president of IEOTY Awards. "Yet, developed and modified for the 488 Pista, the best engine in the world has managed to improve. Without a doubt, we are witnessing a masterly lesson in engineering from Ferrari. No turbo-lag, beautiful delivery, authentic emotion, raging rumble and lots of power: this Ferrari V8 is a work of art ", he concludes.

To crown a record year for Ferrari, the naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 and 800 hp mounted on the 812 Superfast also won two awards: in the "Over 4-liter" category and, after a complete redesign of 6.3 liters of the F12berlinetta with 75% of new components, in the "Best New Engine" category.
